You may have solidified your personal new year’s resolution list, but what about one for your pets? Here are seven simple resolutions you can keep as a pet parent to ensure your furry friends are happy and healthy in the new year, and beyond.
#1: I will pet proof my home.
When was the last time you crouched down to Fido and Fluffy’s level and took a look around? There might be hazards lurking within your home that you’re unaware of, and now is the time to find out. Make sure all hazardous materials are packed away safely, and put any potential “chew toys” up high and out of sight.
#2: I will update all ID tags.
Sure, your pet may have been micro-chipped when you bought him, but haven’t you moved a few times since? Make sure all information, on both digital and physical tags, is correct. While you’re at it, toss a new collar in there. Your pet could use a fashion pick-me-up!
#3: I will plan some play dates.
Socializing your pets helps them live a long and happy life. Plus, it provides plenty of opportunity for exercise. Have you ever seen two pups chase eachother around the house? It’s exhausting just to watch!
#4: I will commit to improving my pet’s diet.
We know Fido loves his table scraps, but we promise you’re not doing him any favors! Help your pet keep a balanced diet by personalizing their daily meals to their age and weight. If you’re not sure what your pets should be eating, consult with your veterinarian first.
#5: I will schedule regular wellness appointments.
You make a physical every year with your own doctor, so why wouldn’t you schedule one for your pet too? Keeping up with annual wellness visits can ensure that your pet’s health is properly monitored and maintained by your veterinary specialist.
Here at Upper East Side Animal Hospital we take pet health seriously, which is why we offer unlimited animal well-care plans, good for up to one year. Pay one price now, and bring your pet in for a visit as many times as you’d like for no additional fee!
